Evolution, extinction, and tropical biology are among the areas of interest that inform my work. I am drawn to the immediacy of watercolor and sketchbooks and use these as my primary means of expression, while my repertoire also includes highly technical specimen illustration, digital art, iconography, and design. Trained as a field ecologist, evolutionary biologist, and artist, I combine in my art an understanding of scientific processes, a fascination with the complexities and beauty of the natural world, and a keen desire to observe, document, and educate, in an era in which many of the world's ecosystems and species are threatened.
